whiting out a home is my typical starting point but it kinda lacks that oomph. if the space allows for it i love the idea of soft black doors, a black dressing room or office, a little black trim- it’s a super economical chic infusion. i’ve been watching a victorian retail space (that is actually demolishing my train of thought as i write- it’s directly across from my balcony) in transformation for about a year. they’ve blown out the back, torn down walls, redone the roof- just yesterday they painted the shutters and trim black on the yellow brick being- none of their hard work has been nearly as impactful as those few coats.
