being jo

i have many a canadian moment, at times i thank people as i leave the elevator (perhaps just for sharing space?) apologize to those who clearly bash into ME on the street, and pick up other peoples litter behind them. canadians are hospitable by nature, overcompensatingly polite, but don’t fool us for being pushovers… most can throw a good punch if crossed.We invented ski-doos, jet-skis, velcro, zippers, insulin, penicillin, zambonis, the telephone and short wave radios that save countless lives each year…not to mention smarties, crispy crunch, and coffee crisp. we are the land of maple syrup (which btw in recent studies has been proven to be the healthiest sweetening agent,) hudson’s bay point blankets, ryan gosling, mike myers, neil young, joni mitchell… the list goes on. i am also proud to state that our national costume (the canadian tuxedo) has become a global go-to, we’ve stood by our denim on denim through the days of yore. we know how to build fires, we have manners, we love beer, and plaid, we are home to many a great- and welcome others with open arms, my name is jo… and i am proud to be canadian. happy canada d’eh everyone!!
