i’m in the middle of a move, so for those of you who have a fresh bed to utilize on this blessed sunday- relish in the comfort, throw on a shonda rhimes show, and snub the outdoors. people often gave my former bed the compliment of relating it to a ‘parent bed,’ always clean, crisp, and responsibly cozy (not too soft.) ya ain’t seen nothing yet… my next sleep haven is going to be a low riding, firm but inviting, neutrally linened treasure of a nest. this very image will get me through my repulsive sunday pack- where i decide what to do with pictures of my tween self in one size too small abercrombie tee’s, and contimplate whether 3/4 burnt fancy candles are worth keeping.

gender neutral bedrooms erring on the side of masculine

as a married woman (?!?! still wrapping my head around my stage in life) one thing i vow to never do is emasculate my partner in this journey by pinkafying, frufruifying, pastelifying the bedroom. if you are paired up in this journey isn’t it important to leave the bedroom fair game? it is a place i would prefer my man to be in touch with his masculinity. coupled or not the bedroom is not one to neglect, the rule of keeping the bedroom door shut when company comes knocking is for hoarders- people are curious where you sleep. i find great inspiration in hotel bedrooms (maybe a post to come?) who doesn’t like feeling the luxury of a staycation every night, annndd they’re generally unbiased.

the mod canopy bed

childhood for me was all about coming up with creative ways to get out of going to school. when most successful my smooth moves landed me with my sister, at my aunt’s house, in the spare bedroom, cuddled up in a canopy bed with toasted tuna bagels, baked goods, and saved by the bell marathons. these very dreams days inspired my undying love for canopy beds. these modern versions are for the most part stripped of drapery but would still give that hotel feel, and if the ceilings have height give some good looking dimension. i also believe this could call for an interesting DIY (pipes attached to the ceiling with some beautiful linens hanging?)
