the big chop

as i sat in my hairdresser’s chair yesterday he informed me of how much we hold onto in our locks- approximately seven years of baggage to be precise. part of this drastic move was for the sake of vanity (hoping this could add a new dimension to my look) in larger part, the freedom of the attachment to my hair- new beginning- a physical cleanse. i anxiously awaited my early evening appointment, and prepped myself (and my mother who was to hold my hand through this journey) for the potential outburst of tears that could follow this self inflicted rebirth. turns out no tears- an almost religious experience- freedom, content, and joy. the visual inspiration for my chop was audrey tautou (image above.)
